Just as a reminder cell phone numbers go public this month. All cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you may start to receive sales calls. You can be charged for these calls or have them eat up your minutes.
To prevent this, you can call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National ‘DO NOT CALL’ list and will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked.
Scammers have been making phone calls claiming to represent the National Do Not Call Registry. The calls claim to provide an opportunity to sign up for the Registry. These calls are not coming from the Registry or the Federal Trade Commission, and you should not respond to these calls. To add your number to the Registry you can call 888-382-1222 from the phone you wish to register . Your registration will not expire. Telephone numbers placed on the National Do Not Call Registry will remain on it permanently due to the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007, which became law in February 2008. Read more about it at http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2008/04/dncfyi.shtm.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY
The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free.
Attention sellers and telemarketers: Go to https://telemarketing.donotcall.gov to subscribe to the National Do Not Call Registry.
If you are an exempt organization, and you wish to scrub your call lists, you may subscribe, but are not required to do so.
I did both of our phones and it only took a minute! Well worth your time!
Until next post have a great week, Joe
